Our charming, gregarious Sole Men volunteers play a hugely important role at our event, and we can’t imagine doing it without them. Our affable architects, flirty firemen, dashing doctors, and good ole regular guys (brothers, fathers, friends) are helping us take charge with raising money for the cause and spreading the mission to make sure that the ladies in their lives never have to sacrifice their health due to the lack of funds!
Our Sole Men are in charge of greeting and schmoozing with guests, presenting designer goodies on silver platters, selling raffle tickets, promoting auction lots, and—most importantly—making every woman feel special. They play a key role in creating hype within the community by spreading the word to friends and colleagues while also competing for the coveted “King of Sole” crown. Get ready ladies to watch our men bring the house down!
Canton from Wine Women & Shoes on Vimeo.
Born in Canton, OH at the old Mercy Hospital on Market Avenue. I grew up on Kirk Court, between 19th and 21st street in Canton, which was our family home for my entire childhood. Attended Worley grade school and Lehman High school in Canton and graduated undergrad from Kent State University and graduate school from Purdue University. I lived and worked in the Canton area for many years before moving to Charlotte, NC 21 years ago. My wife and I, Colleen, have 3 daughters, the youngest of whom is 21. I am a market research practice leader for LRW and manage an office for them in Charlotte, NC.
I love music, primarily the old Rock & Roll and Motown groups from the 60’s & 70’s, great dancing music. Also play the piano when I can find the time. I have a passion for our Cleveland sports team, and still follow them all very closely from North Carolina. I like to stay active, doing a variety of activities, of which my favorite pastime is playing golf.
I am lucky enough to be surrounded by a number of wonderful women in my life, including my wife, 3 daughters and my mother, who at age 83 is still incredibly active. These lovely women, as well as the many other female friends and family members are very important to me. As we all know, cancer is a horribly insidious disease that threatens all of the people around us, particularly women. It is important that we do everything that we can to help protect the women in our lives from this disease as well as work to find cures for the many forms of cancer that exist.
In particular, I am dedicating my time for this event with the thoughts and prayers to several women to whom I am close that are currently fighting cancer; my first cousin Linda Vignos, my sister in law Donna Gilbride and a close friend Judy Shea. All three of these women are battling the disease with incredible spirit, grace and dignity.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal of $1,000.00 for Wine Women & Shoes-Canton in their honor.
Your sponsorship of Wine Women & Shoes
will benefit Mercy Medical Center’s cancer services for women. Our vision
is for all women in our community to have access to comprehensive, quality, and
compassionate care when faced with a cancer diagnosis. Too many times, women
are overwhelmed with life-altering issues that compound the complexities of
their cancer treatment.
With your help, women facing cancer and their families will have the resources they need to get through a cancer diagnosis and will have the best possible chance for survival. Your partnership with Mercy Service League will enhance Mercy Cancer Center’s efforts to assist all women throughout their cancer journey. There is nothing stronger than the collective power of women helping women!
